Titanium zinc for a combination of modernity and tradition

The LEED-Gold certified and award-winning Louisville Free Public Library (LFPL) Northeast Regional Branch in Kentucky features a naturally sustainable exterior wall cladding of graphite-grey zinc from RHEINZINK. Designed by JRA Architects and MSR Design, the newly constructed 40,000-square-foot LFPL Northeast Regional Branch represents a "pavilion in the park" that combines modern amenities with a historic landscape. Shaded by mature, historic trees, a stylish entry porch welcomes library visitors.

RHEINZINK-prePATINA exterior wall cladding contributed to LFPL's aesthetic, performance and sustainability goals. The double-lock standing seam zinc panels form the curved, overlapping metal "curtains" of the façade, framing openings to provide views of activities in the library's modern interior.

"Libraries spark intellectual curiosity, promote literacy, help our children succeed in school and our adults reach their full potential," says LFPL Director Lee Burchfield. "Northeast Regional is a spectacular library in a beautiful, park-like setting that will inspire creativity and innovation for generations of Louisvillians."
