A modern residential building was constructed in southern Styria, using only carefully selected, durable, and environmentally friendly building materials.
On the flat roof of the elongated T-shaped building, a house for the son was constructed using larch; the wide eaves of the RHEINZINK roof protect the facade, ensuring that the honey-yellow hue of the wood is preserved. The horizontal wood cladding is continued on the lower section of the building via RHEINZINK horizontal panels, which have been so meticulously crafted that they appear as if drawn with a ruler. The garage extension is finished in wine red, while the RHEINZINK façade is blue-gray; the colors break up the large structure and harmoniously complement one another. Larch, when properly treated, can last for many centuries without maintenance; wooden churches in Sweden bear clear witness to this. The pre-weathered blue-gray RHEINZINK roof and façade offer the same durability. A quality that fits very well into the value-conscious environment of Styria.
When asked about his reasons for using RHEINZINK for roofs and facades, architect Rupert Rauch says: “The responsibility we have toward our children: This responsibility embodies the qualities of a positive energy balance, durability, environmental sustainability, health, reusability, and the many possibilities for combining RHEINZINK with solar thermal and photovoltaic systems. To build with consideration for future generations, not to leave them a debt, but a world that is better than the one we found - this is our responsibility. And RHEINZINK as a building material fits into this philosophy.”
